Creating his project, architect Richard Pierschke leaned on the ideas of Constructivism and Suprematism of the 1920-s. The starting point for his project was Kasimir Malevich's painting “Building a house”. Thus, particular elements of IBB building remind of geometric figures typical for Suprematism. In recent years, a reference to Malevich’s style has found its reflection in the internal design of IBB Minsk.
The main concept consists in the idea of a connection between the past and the present, maintaining the traditions of the most fruitful period in the Belarusian art history – constructivism.
During the construction of IBB Minsk for the first time in Belarus the concept of ecological approaches on the use of energy resources have been implemented, which implies the use of thermal insulation materials, the optimum equipment of buildings, etc. In addition, since 2006 on the basis of ICEE Minsk a small solar energy collector has been operating.
All stages of construction included an intensive exchange of views between the Belarusian and German architects, engineers, builders and officials of government agencies that oversaw the construction. This contributed to the mutual transformation process of scientific knowledge and experience.
