Church and society

For more than ten years ago, the representatives of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, the Union of Evangelical Christians-Baptists and the Union of Lutheran communities in Belarus have been united in the Working Group of IBB Minsk. For some time now, the Catholic Church has also been part of the Working Group.
The main purpose of the Working Group is to support and to develop the dialogue between representatives of the major Christian confessions in Belarus. It holds conferences and round tables on current issues of Christian belief and church activities, organizes Christian summer camps, including Christian participation from Germany, and thus contributes to mutual understanding and exchange of experience between the various Christian confessions.
At meetings of the Working Group, representatives of various beliefs discuss together topical issues of faith and social life, morality and ethics. At the regular monthly meetings they discuss current issues of individual churches activities, as well as develop and put into practice the topics of seminars and conferences that are held throughout the year.
Meetings and conferences of the working group are united by a common annual theme «The Christian Church in a Changing World». What is the role of Christian churches in the spiritual and moral formation of the Belarusian society? What are the similarities and differences in the activities of Christian churches? What new methods of working with congregations and in missionary activity have emerged in recent times? How should the church respond to new challenges in a globalized world? Answers to these and other questions will be seeking by representatives of various believes within the framework of the Working Group.
