From the very start of its existence, IBB Minsk has been organizing educational programs to enhance skills of Belarusian journalists for development of a new, independent journalism in Belarus.
An important part of the activities is the implementation of the possibility of a dialogue between journalists with various political views, from state and private media.
In recent years, hundreds of journalists have been able to take part in educational programs of IBB. Many journalists are members of the Journalists’ Club and traditionally meet at the club meetings every two months.
The education programs of the Media Academy include a cycle of seminars on the role of media in democratic development, marketing and management of regional media, investigative journalism in the Internet, techniques of interview. These seminars give Belarusian journalists the opportunity to meet with experts from Germany and Belarus and discuss the topics of Belarusian-German cooperation.
Case-study trips help journalists from Belarus to deepen the gained knowledge during visits to publishers and editors as well as meetings with Western colleagues. These activities contributed to the creation of an extensive network of contacts with journalists from European countries, especially from Germany.
Media Academy at IBB also offers journalists from Western Europe and Germany, who come to Belarus, primary information support on the country and help in search of contacts.
